7. Applications in Mac; part 2
I talked about applications in Mac last week. Those are the apps that are installed when you install OSX Lion on your computer. This time I will talk about apps that I downloaded on Internet and in Appstore.
The applications that I will explain are:
The applications that I will explain are:
Chrome
MPlayerX
Evernote
The Unarchiver
Open Office
I'll post more when I download more apps, but these are the things that I use right now. I don't think there has to be so many apps. Even though I download many apps, I don't use them quite often. Therefore, I will talk about apps that you would need first.
1. Chrome
Chrome is a web browser made by Google. This is the fastest web browser I've ever used. Of course Safari and Firefox is great, but I think Chrome is better. Also the good part of it is that you can search by typing in the place where you type the address. Not only these, but also there are many benefits using Chrome. I'll post about this later.
2. MPlayerX
This app helps you to play video files. As I can't play .avi, .mkv files with Quicktime Player, I use MPlayerX instead. This app is pretty good.
3. Evernote
This is app that is useful when you take notes on your Mac. There are other good applications for taking notes, but I think evernote is the best. According to App Store, it says 'synchronizes from Mac to smartphone, tablet, and the web' To me, this is the best part. Not only I can see my notes on Mac, but also on iPod. Isn't that amazing?
There's also pro version too, which means you have to pay, but I think free version is enough. I hope you enjoy!
4. The Unarchiver
How can you unzip zip files without this application? This helps you to unzip zip files. After installing this app, what you need to do is just double click zip file. The Unarchiver will automatically unzip the file.
5. Open Office
Open Office is pretty similar to Microsoft Office. You can make spread sheet, text file, and presentation file. You can do many functions that you have used in MS Office. However, you can't view or make .pptx and .docx file. :( Still, this is a nice app!

6. Applications in Mac; part 1.
This time, I'll talk about applications that you can use in Macintosh.
As I have explained before, applications in mac are pretty similar to those of iPhone. So users can use applications much easier.
In this post, I'll introduce you the basic apps that are installed when you buy new MacBook.
The ones that are marked in red, in the picture below are the ones that are installed when I first bought MacBook. Some are apps that you can buy in App Store, and you can install some when you are upgrading to OS X Lion.
Applications that I will introduce in this post;
iPhoto
iMovie
Facetime
Mail
iCal
iTunes
1. iPhoto
iPhoto is an application that helps you manage your photos.
According to Apple, it has these features:
Turn so-so snapshots into great photos.
Share what you shoot.
Make slideshows that amaze and entertain.
Create photo books, letterpress cards, and calendars.
For me, it is very easy to classify photos that I have. I have many pictures that I took when traveling around the world. Through iPhoto, I could classified them easily. I classified them by year, place and event.
You can classify your photos by events,
by places,
by albums.
Also, you can make a book!
Nowadays, people don't print out photos often, but still it would be good to print out the photos.
You can view the faces and name them!
2. iMovie
iMovie is a great app to make your own movie.
I've made my own video.
You can watch on YouTube
I've made it with my video taken at Chicago.
3. Facetime
This application helps you to make a video call.
Video calls usually don't have a good quality video.
Facetime provides you a great quality video call! You have to try!
4. Mail
The best part of Mail app is that you don't have to log in to check your mail all the time.
When there's push notification, what I need to do is just click Mail icon on dock.
With this app, you can check your mails right away!!
5. iCal
How often do you use calendar on your computer?
In my case I use it often. Thanks to iCal, I can view my calendar very easily.
Also, you can sync with Google calendar.
6. iTunes
This application is very famous!
You need this when you have iPod or iPhone or iPad.
Not only you can listen to songs but also you can manage your songs pretty easily.
In some PCs, iTunes is very slow. When it comes to Mac, it's not slow anymore.
